Intermittent starting problem
truck has been doing nothing recently when i turn key to start it. No sound no nothing, about like you would expect with a dead battery (lights--radio-ect all work.
So far turning the key off and on a few times has got me started but cold weathers coming !!
Cleaned battery posts and cables. cable looks good at starter. Looked on ebay for starters and it appears 94-2000 use a different (less costly) starter than the 2001 1/2's ?

. Could be you need new contacts in the starter mine did the same thing. took the starter to alt-starter shop replaced the contacts for $40. not a problem since. I believe you can order contacts and do it youself if so inclined.

More than likely its the contacts in the starter. Pretty rare for an ignition switch to fail. Check out my pictures, then visit LarryB's.

Problem
I had the same exact problem on my 98 gasser V-10. It would start, and then not start and I'd cycle the key 10 million times and then it would start. The dealer said there was still parts of the alarm on there (BS). After that it still did it. One of the tech's at the new dealer said to try a new a new starter solinoid (in the fuse box). Low and behold I've never had a problem again. Guess the contacts in there worn out. Give it a whirl, it's only around 10 bucks for the relay (maybe more for the diesel)
