I was visiting the local diesel performance shop today talking to the owner about upgrades, and we naturally gravitated towards Banks. He said that Banks has two sales divisions, one wholesale and one retail. When you call the 1-800 number, you get the retail division. Anyway, he proceeded to tell me that the sales consultants in the retail division get 3 percent commission on all sales they make…..hummmm. [nonono]
He went on to gripe about the fact that he is a Banks dealer and carries all the Banks stuff. Using their monster exhaust as an example, he said that too many times he has had someone walk in with a monster exhaust and ask him to install it. When he questions them, they all tell him that they purchased it from Banks…and paid $200 in shipping to get it up here. He said Banks tells the customers that he is an authorized installer if they need help, but never once has a Banks sales consultant told a customer that they can purchase the exhaust from him and save $200 in UPS Blue shipping. Prime example of the sales person making extra commission at the customer’s expense.
Bet that will make you think next time you call looking for facts, whether Mr./Ms. sales person is having a bad sales month and might stretch the truth a little to make the sale. No doubt Banks makes quality stuff, but doesn’t that just about make you mad?
Thought you would find that interesting.
