While I would agree that the new Ford 6.7 Diesel Engines have had some issues SO HAVE the new 4th Gen Dodge 6.7 Cummins along with the 2012 Chevy Duramax Engines. Personally, I have seen three (3) Dodge Cummins 6.7
Engines come apart and that is not including the number of turbos that have plugged or broke shafts from the excessive amount of soot going through them.

Saw that video a while back, but still no update. Over all so far I dont hear to much bad news on the 6.7 powerstroke. I know the one I have has been perfect

RAMRODD, I agree with you Sir! I have a friend by the name of Aaron Rudolph who runs "Rudy's Diesel Performance" in Durham, N.C. He specializes in the Ford Diesel Pickups and has two (2) newer Ford 2010-2011 Ford 6.7 Diesel Pickups and has not had any issues with either of those trucks so far.
They run a heck of alot better than a stock Dodge 6.7 and they get better fuel mileage too.

Every exhaust valve in it was burned. One fell apart and trashed the engine. Best bet is it was mis-timed from the factory, just like the new replacement engine.
I'm learning to love my first gen 12 valve 5.9 more every day.

Just to be clear, joking aside, I am a big fan of Ford's new Powerstoke. When I found this video I came up with all sorts of questions.

-Is this a warranty repair? If so it looks like the work is being done by a private shop.

-Is this a stock or juiced motor that failed in this fashion? (He mentions glowplugs)

-Doesn't look like any updates to this video have been posted. Anyone know anything more on it?

I also have a good friend with a '11 6.7, while it is incredibly stout, and he has had zero issues at about 75K miles, his fuel economy is nothing to brag about, unloaded best of about 17, loaded closer to 13 ( not super heavy loading ), and his drinks DEF at about twice the rate that Ford says it should.

He loves it though, and I have to say, other than the excessive use of Urea, if I was forced into a space shuttle, it probably would be the one I would look at.

Good points on the Ford 6.7 Powerstroke Sir! I agree with you and also patdaly. Contrary to what alot of the DTR Members here say, these new Ford 6.7 Diesel Trucks are proving to be good vehicles. Yes, they had some
"teething problems" early on, but Ford is slowly working on these issues. They get better mileage than the 4th Gen Dodge 6.7's, they are faster, they pull better and IMHOare ALOT more comfortable than the Dodges. I had a chance to drive a friends new 2011 Ford PSD 6.7 this past August. His truck had been deleted and had an "H&S Tuner" on it. I was shocked at how good that truck ran. I took off from a dead stop with his truck, floored it and that truck launched hard with no noticeable turbo "lag" like the Dodge 6.7 and shifted very quickly throught the gears. As the truck got into OD I looked down and was running 110 MPH!

If I was going to buy a new diesel today I would buy the Ford 6.7!

Not an uncommon issue here. The F450 and 550's are having issues with burning and dropping exhaust valves. Just do some reading on them.

I have a friend at a Ford dealer, been there for years. Talked to him about the Ford options. He said stay away from the 6.4, 6.0 but since the 6.7 has come out all he's seen of them is routine maintenance, oil changes and such.

I'm watching them close, in the next year or two it might be time for a new rig and I'm watching the Fords with eagle eyes.

I sat in a 2012 SD 6.7 and the fit and finish was impeccable. Interior was like a livingroom. Under the hood was a nightmare,but if other than checking fluids,etc. is all you can do,no problem. A factory supported warranty would be necessary in order for me to sleep at night.

I'm burnt out on shifting and Ford traditionally has supplied a stout unit. Now if those lottery#'s would just come up.

I was told that it's a problem with the job 1 builds... But the company I used to work for has a 550 that has had 2 long blocks put in it so far.

Don't they do any testing on those things before they hit the market? Or are their customers doing the testing for them?

I don't care how great they run, what mileage they get, how wonderful they sound or anything else. As far as I'm concerned, any vehicle with a V-8 diesel will never be anything other than a grocery getter or errand do-er. If the V-8's were anything designed for work, you'd see them in class 8 trucks. And you never do. Unless someone PUT one there.

Now if Ford were to put a Cummins or other in-line diesel into their trucks, they might have something.

Well if you want to step up to a F650 or 750 you can get a 6.7l Cummins with and allison trans.....Expensive!
