Intercooler

Intercooler
I was just wondering when the stock intercooler becomes a restriction and stops lowering temps and starts to raise them. When does it blow apart (what boost level)? Has anyone blow one? What about an air-to-water aluminum intercooler?

Re:Intercooler
I don't think the intercooler has the ability to raise temperatures. As long as air is getting to it, and flow is not restricted, it can't heat only cool. The intake temp to the turbo is most of the time, ambient temp. And the intake air will always pick-up heat from it's charge, so it will always be warmer then the air, to air intercooler. A air to water intercooler just isn't practical on a vehicle, a boat yes. The water needs to be turned over, to remove the heat from the exchange, on a boat this could be done fairly easy. In certain race situation they do this. They use cool cans filled with ice, and run the fuel through them for a denser charge. The same basic ideal for the charged air system.

Re:Intercooler
I have heard of IC's letting go around 90-100 psi of boost, and anywhere on up. Enterprise Engine does have a upgrade over the stock one.
