intercooler hoses

i was crawling around under my new truck saturday, ( i cant seem to edit my sig. or you would know what i have) 2001 2500 4x4.

anyway, i was sitting down by the driver side front tire, and notice the the lower intercooler hose (which is visible fron this location) is being cut by a piece of the fender. it apears to be a tight fit on both sides. i looked at my 97', and there was at least 3/4" between that piece of fender on both sides. i know this sounds confusing, but if you have ever looked at this, you will know exactly what im talking about.

has anyone else experienced this, and where can i buy intercooler hoses? i guess a place to start is Cummins Southwest.

Re:intercooler hoses

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I got a pair of pliers and bent back the fender so that it couldn’t touch the boot anymore. I got my new boot at http://www.piersdiesel.com they have the best prices and it is a much better boot than the factory one. You might want to fix this ASAP b/c I think this boot being out is what caused my turbo to go out.

Just because it is being cut, does not mean it is cut. Mine had a pretty good gouge in it, but was still holding 80PSI. (I put the Piers Booties in, and all is well in BOMBING land.

Also looking down from the top, by the radiator resevoir, look down to the lower intercooler boot, and see if the A/C line (switch) is rubbing on the boot. All the trucks I have seen, they have been. Even though it's not rubbing at idle,, under boost the boot will grow a little bit. You need about 1.5" clearance from the boot and A/C switch.

I just got the one boot and I want to say that I had the new one in about 2-3 days.
