Intercooler boot installation??

Should received my new boots tomorrow. I've read about using hair spray & belt dressing to install the boots to help get them from blowing off. Just wanted to check with you guys, is that the best to use or is there something else to use on the boots? Or do you really need to use anything at all?

Thanks

I havent used anything at all. I just take a wrench or ratchet and check them at every oil change.

I had under $75 for 3' of 2.5ID silicone coolant hose and 8 constant tension clamps from the local truck dealer. If anything I add lube by way of PB to get them installed, but for the most part, I install dry if I can.

I got my 2.5" 4 Ply Silicone Hump Hose Hosing Turbo 3" Long Blue from Verocious Motorsports, a Vertex Industries, Inc. company. High Temp Silicone (HTS) manufacturers their silicone hump hoses with a 4-ply aramid reinforcement. This allows these HTS silicone hump hoses to withstand high boost applications as well as temperatures up to 500°F.
They had them on E-Bay for $17.12 each......I ordered 4 of the boots & they came in today....If you want to check them out here is the link below.

Oh, you are going to have problems. Your OEM boots are 4" long at the top (off the turbo and onto the intake horn), and 5" on the bottom (coming in and going out of the intercooler). I emailed several vendors about longer than advertised hoses (even straight hoses, not hump hoses), and got the same response- "our hoses are __ (2.5-3) inches long, that is the standard, like it or lump it." So, I took a route similar to bgilbert- bought some silicone radiator hose rated to 65psi working pressure and cut the 3ft section to fit. So far so good.

I am fixing to install a 97 intercooler, as soon as I find some lower boots.

pwrtrpls1- that is about right for higer performance silicone boots.

Yep your right....They are to short. You might be able to get the top ones to work but I'm not even going to try to install them. I was worried about that when I was looking for the boots cause all you can find online are 3" long...Already call and got a return notice...They are getting shipped back tomorrow...
I was wondering about the straight hose. The hump hose gives you a little flex. I would think you would loose some of the flex with the straight hose..Then again I may be wrong....

Yeah that's about the going price for the aftermarket variety. Advertised to hold 100 psi so I don't have to worry about them any time soon.

Found some 2 1/2" 4 ply silicone hose today in town. So I'll be cutting hose to fit now.
Also found out the the OEM part numer for the boots are.
Top Boots..52004915
Lower Boots..52006930
Which Dodge can not anymore. Dodge did say they use to sell the boots for around $80.00 each....OUCH!
