intercooled or not identification
i have a core 91 motor out of the truck and im tryin to determine if it is intercooled or not. The motor was given to me and i have no access to the truck the motor came out of. How can I id this motor besides the plate on top of the valve cover(it is either gone or never had one) that says "intercooled" ? THANKS.

Does it have the turbo? The non-IC trucks have a 3'' turbo inlet, whereas the IC trucks have a 4''. I haven't looked closely at the data plate, but I would imagine a non IC truck engine would be labled a 6bt and an IC engine would be labled 6bta(aftercooled)
Hope this helps.

ALso, a non- IC engine will have the crossover from the turbo to intake.
Delivery valve holders will extend farther from the head of the VE pump than on later engines.
Vacuum pump has 2 pods sticking onto it, vs the longer, sleeker vane pump on later engines.
