So I've read on here that if you have a flatbed, your insurance will be lower. Is this true? What do you tell the ins. company?

my dad had state auto ins. for years. when he got his 02 dually the ins. was $900 for 6 months He then put a flat bed on it, and heard Farm Bureau had a flatbed rate he ask his agent if they had one, they said no so he switched to farm bureau. It was the same coverage and was 220 bucks. Which is now went down to 195 for full coverage, 200 dollar ductuable with high liabilities. Thats how ive got my truck insured also at the same rate. I dont know if you have to be a farmer to get this rate but it does have to be on a 1 ton truck. I dunno if any other insurance company does this besides FB but it is worth checking into.

Flatbeds are cheaper simply because they are cheaperto repair/replace than a standard truck bed.... my full comprehensive policy runs just under 500 a year through Allied Ins.
