I was wondering if anybody has installed limit straps for their suspension on their 2nd Gen RAM. All the limit straps I've seen say they are only for the 3rd gen RAM's.

Do you have to drill any holes to install them on the 2nd Gen's?

no I will be doing it this summer. there is Kits you can order for specific length etc. pending how or what type of lift you have and control arm etc. they will bolt up pretty much the same. there are alot of companies that have universal straps. this is what Carli has for a example. scroll down when you open it.

I dont know about the current offerings but way back when, when Kore first offered them for 2nd gens you had to weld a tab on the axle for each strap as a mounting point for the axle.

just have to look some of the higher end suspension kits come with straps. most of those companies will make universal ones. pending your set up some can be bolted some will need a tap welded due to location and you may not have a bolt hole due to lift kit or etc. I know skyjacker makes them. call www.topguncustomz.com they should have some choices

Thanks. I didn't realize they had so many different types out there. I know Carli is pretty expensive, but they sure do seem to make good quality stuff. I was leaning more towards the ones they make.

why are you guys putting limit straps on your trucks? do you actually jump them and totally unload the suspension or is there some benifit that im not seeing? please educate the ignorant

Limit straps are the best way to stop suspension from overextending. ... Limit straps are critical for long travel suspension and help stop overextension. with that said does the average Joe need them probley not. you dont need to jump to need them. if your vehicle does any crawling contorting etc. dending your lift set up they have a Pro. also they look cool....but again everyone will have their own reason. there are alot of companies that make them and you can get them pretty cheap and they seem to be made of same type of nylon and usually in the strength range of 7k to 10k.
