Installing Jardine 4" exhaust

I just bought a Jardine 4” complete exhaust and was eye balling what it would take to install it. I’m forced to cut the old one out due to welded joints and old age. When I was talking to the guy from Jardine, he recommended that I put a tack weld at the three joints. That’s all well and good if you have a welder.

My question is, what would be the harm in installing the system without clamps or tack welds at the seems and driving it to the local muffler shop and have them the welding? I guess my fear would be that it would fall apart on the way there.

And for those who have this system, how is the fit and finish? Has anyone had any longevity/quality issues?

My final question is, how much torque to put on the turbo bolts upon final assembly?

This is gonna be your call. maybe use even just coathangers to get it to the shop, but if it falls, your SOL. That would be my only concern, it falling.

My final question is, how much torque to put on the turbo bolts upon final assembly?
I don't think there is really a necessary torque spec, just put in on fairly tight (this one is subjective)

Exhaust

gregway! I just installed one 2 wks ago just use all your clamps and
hangers and then run it to the muffler shop for a tack weld.

Personally I'd only tack it if I were running a remote exhaust brake. Clamps hold it together just fine. You could even get fancy and use band clamps instead of the regular crimp clamps that come with Jardine's kit. By the way it sounds great...

I've got regular clamps on my truck and have had them for about 40K miles with no problem. They seal up fine.

Thanks for all the great info.

I started taking the old one out and all the joints were solid as a rock, even after I used a dremmel to cut away the tack. So I decided to use a Sawz-all and it would've taken forever and a day to cut it up. So I decided to take it to a shop since I didn't have a cutting torch and the joints needed to be tacked anyway. I am a little dissapointed that I didn't put a little more effort into it, but I have a camping trip this weekend and I wanted to tow with it!! My anxiousness got the better of me. It's like being a kid with your new toy in the wrapper and not being able to play with it.
