I know that this is an old mod but I wanted to help some guys like myself who might have just gotten a 12 valve.

Over the past few weeks I have installed gauges (pyro.,boost, & tranny temp), killed the KDP, ground my own plate (#10), and did the washer mod.

None of this was to hard but I am no mechanic. It took me a little longer than most but the washer mod by far was the easiest. I read up on these threads and sites http://www.piersdiesel.com/TechGSK12V.htm https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...hlight=springs

I went in the side of the pump, this seemed a lot easier. Some pointers for people like me: Remove the shut down solenoid linkage completely. This is only one 8mm bolt you have to loosen. The linkage will get in the way when you go to put the plug back in. Also, make sure the washer will fit over the small end of the retainer. You can't get the lock screw back on if it doesn't.

I used the 3/8" washers and drilled the whole out to 1/2".

I am very glad I tried this before ordering the $100+ spring kit. My idle went up about 200 rpm but it idles sooooo much smoother now. And you won't believe the difference it makes in the truck. My pedal is not touchy like others have stated but it definitely takes less pedal to get the truck going.

I hope this helps some guys out and sways them in trying this cheap ($.18) mod before ordering springs. Even if you order springs after, doing this will drastically cut down your time on installing the springs. Good Luck!!!
