The Delphi/Lucas Prince of Darkness injectors are the largest injectors you can get for the 1st gen CTD. In there stock form these little babies are capable of flowing more fuel than the 2nd Gen Diamond B 370's. Piers sells these injectors and has them matched to very close tolerances, they also come with the copper washers installed on the nozzle.

http://www.piersdiesel.com

Take a look at the shower head in your bathroom - with both hot and cold wide open they don't flow as much as PODs. ;D ;D I saw Nascar Mark turn 308hp at Diesel Thunder in Spokane with his truck running POD's and other "changes". I believe they are rated at 190 hp. I am running PWs which are rated at 185hp. PWs are a Cummins injector.

I will always be looking for mods that give me a more HP & torque while still keeping my mileage reasonable. Right now I get 18mpg in the city and 21+ on the open road at 70 mph.

My sig shows 247RWHP but with some "changes" I feel I am over 250 but not where I feel I would like to be - at about 275. I think I can get to 275 with little or no sacrifice in mileage. I will just have to wait until Diesel Thunder to see if I am right.

Bob

Bob,
I'll be there to confirm your numbers. ;D I may dyno before then, but I think I am around the 275hp range now. ;D ;D I dynoed last on a Mustang, and will dyno on a Dynojet next. From what I have heard the numbers are often a little different between the two, so I am curious to see what happens.

I think a set of extrude honed PW's would be a good compromise. More power than stock PW's, and better spray angle and atomization than POD's.

Mike
Mike
Keep me posted on your results with "doctored" PWs. I am taking a slightly different route but would be interested in a little more power. I don't want to change my pump settings except possibly the smoke - that is a final adjustment. I've got something to prove or disprove first. The old girl will be ready for a run at 275 min RWHP at Diesel Thunder. I too will probably dyno before Diesel Thunder. I need to get the fine tuning done. :) :)
Bob

If Piers is just a little bit more money its money worth spent!!! Piers, Al and the rest of the crew are top notch and always there for any questions or help that you may need down the road. My money, wife permitting :'( for my future Mods "HX-40" will be spent with Piers. I can't say enough about them. If you have questions, call them. You won't be disappointed. OK, just my .02, Lon

Bob,
I would like to experiment with the "doctored" PW's, but haven't got a set. It's just something that I have thought about. I think someone sells them but I’m not sure. I wonder how much it would cost to have mine honed and balanced. Hmmmmm....

So your' taking a slightly different route? Curious to see what that is.

Mike
The people at Piers are easy to deal with. My brother got a bad set of POD's from them. He had no problem exchanging them for another set.

Paul

PW = Power Wagons, or Bosch 185's. PW's and POD's go for between $275 and $450. PW's being on the lower end, and POD's on the higher end. Just depends on where you get um, and what kind of deal you can get.

Mike
