Injectors?

Took Crazy Larry off to be mailed in for Scary Larry....

My DTT builder wanted me to try his Smarty to see how the electronic actuator in the tranny would like the Smarty....

Loaded Smarty on my truck on level 4....NOTHING else on truck. At first it performed as it should, but then i developed a rattle...injector rattle. Couldn't go past half throttle with little or no boost because of the horrible rattle....

Unloaded the Smarty and put my EZ on. anything past half throttle had rattle BAD!

Took EZ off.....Stock power. Still has injector rattle until 10psi of boost is achieved...give or take a few psi....had some funny noises which would puff black smoke when the noise occured.

Smarty back on truck on #2....at first was decent then rattle was back again and worse than ever. At idle the rattle was noticeable over the radio.

Are my injectors heading south?

Crank crase isn't filling up with diesel yet....

Options? don't want more than 40-50hp IF my problem IS injectors....

Flux1's...who should I buy from?

DDP or not even consider them?

Anyone i'm forgetting?

any commentary?

Thanks....

F1's are the best, there is no doubt about that, but I think that IMHO dynomite diesel makes the second best injectors. Their customer support is excellent, and the owner is a real hoot. If you happen to talk to him, ask him about the special phone email,,, lol,,.

Join the club! waiting on DTT parts! I have everything billet except the flexplate which we ordered the Tuesday after Thanksgiving...still waiting on it..

Talked to II about my truck....They say the rail pressure regulator may be whats causing my issues...We are about to go pull one off of an 06 and slap it on mine to see what it does. Cross your fingers for me!

well the regulator helped some.

Rattle was not as bad. Put the EZ on...rattle still wasn't as bad. took off for the hill country...on the way home today, i cranked the smarty to 8...EZ on 1 still. Drove fine...no goofy noises and coughing of black smoke...but more than usual injector rattle.

Came home tonight and went to play some....at higher rpms the rattle is there again and its there bad. Its the same rattle the TST/Crazy Larry stack produced....also the same rattle the Hot Juice/MP8/BDDL produced.

Unloaded Smarty...EZ on 1. Still some goofy rattle but not as bad...i'm totally stumped. Its not pressure related cause it will do it with or without a pressure box installed....it seems to be getting worse.

HELP! help FAST!

I'll be on the phone tommorrow about this!

Pressure from the pump is good.

Rail pressure is a possibility....but how? How could i drain the rail with a Smarty and an EZ? why would I be having issues even at idle or half throttle if it was RP related? I'm not calling you wrong I just want someone to help talk me through this!

Rail pressure gauge is on order and has been for over a month....they are on back order. DiProcol had some issues apparently and sent a whole batch of gauges back!

I'm Sorry,i Should Have Clarified, rail Pressure, Not Low Pressure.
If U Don't Know What Your Rail Pressure Is,u Might Have A Faulty Fuel Actuator.
