Injectors with new California smog law
I finally got my tax refund and was looking forward to finally getting the
Mach 1.6 injectors I've always wanted. Now California has instated a new smog check law for diesel trucks. I am worried about the smoke from injectors. I have the Smarty, can I program it for fuel economy or half power for the test to reduce smoke? They test for smoke at idle and a test they call
"snap throttle" where they jump on the throttle to 3000 rpm and let off and check for smoke.

They got the same test here in washington where i live. Ya another one of those states, well the west side . When i had to get mine done they let me control the petal, so i was alittle light on it . They dont know what your truck is like at full throtle so they dont know when its there . Of course the only thing i had was whats in my sig so. I slid my cat on before i went down and was light on the go pedal and i got some extremly low number like 7 out a 40 or somthing like that "i could have gone to 40 before i had a prob"
but with the new sticks and most likly more tight cali polution levels you might have a prob. Wont know tell you try.
good luck

Cali is ridiculous, not only are they charging double for registration now, even though it already cost me 335 bucks for my 1998 this year not they want to control your smoke! Gotta love being controlled by the man.........

OK, still an easier way buddy....Move outa the state and convince the messiah to sell it. When you think of it, Cali really offers nothing to the US other than SMUG

I would run the stock sticks for the test and after install what ever sticks you want. Its only about 2hrs to install sticks. If your stock, you should have no issues passing the sniffer test.

Find out if its retro active, if the injectors are on before the law passes than you should be all right. If it is a 50 state legal modification they can't do much about it.

What I've read these new rules will apply to 1998 and above trucks. Calif. is going bonkers I agree, but don't bash us too much, there is alot to do here. I can't leave or I would, job stuff ya know. My company has been in business since 1922. It has been through two world wars, a depression but this one coming well I can't tell ya the end yet. Costa Rica seems nice, maybe the midwest or south central U.S.A., where the only permit you need is a shotgun.

Didn't Cali recently pass a law requiring clean burning semi's that want to do business in their state? They are making semi owners get rid of their trucks and purchase new "better" ones. This is what they are doing now:
1. Retrofitting engines with emission control systems, such as diesel particulate filters or oxidation catalysts,
2. Replacement of existing engines with new technology diesel engines or natural gas engines, and
3. Restrictions placed on the operation of existing equipment.
My money says that we little guys are next. Glad I live in a $50 registration and no smog test state (so far)....
