HELP!Injectors Junk, Chrysler wants $10'200 to replace
My 07 cab chassis just turned 104'451 on the odometer and i took it in due to a ruff idle and the dealer says it needs all 6 injectors which comes to a bill of $10'200
of course its 4000 over warranty, so im screwed once again by dodge, i spent $1500 on the rearend at 93'000 miles because aam left the thrust washer out that goes behind the yoke from the factory.
Heres my question, i relplace my fuel and air filters every 20'000. I just replaced them at 93'000 while the rearend was getting set up, the dealer said i needed a new fuel filter and air filter 2 days ago and that they couldnt find anything else wrong, then today when i went to get it they say it needs injectors, i think someones trying to make some money here
After calling II and doing some pricing i can get stock injectors for about $3500 and 50hp for about $3900, after letting my dealer know that this is the route i would take if it needs them they called chrysler and got them to agree to cover $7000 worth of the cost and still costing me $3200. Does this sound Like an auction to anybody else????
Anyways i need help here guys, what do ya think

That is frickin ridiculous. Why didn't they do that before you complained? I can't imagine 6 injectors costing $10000. ****.
This is crazy. I don't know what to tell you but I wonder if you need em at all.
That's the position they put you in. So they throw out the 10000 number and you feel good paying 3200?
Man I don't know. I have a brother who could help me make that decision. I feel for ya and that's my number one concern about owning a diesel.
Good Luck.

CRAZY WITH CAPITAL C, if you even need at all, send yours in to good after market company and get better for cheaper. Sounds like my luck, cept it would have 100,001 miles on it. Good luck, let us know how it plays out. Or ask again, maybe they will drop price by 2/3 again LOL

Did they do the simple checks first? Fuel pressures? What codes if any?
If they want your money, I would get them to make the case for me on paper with all the outputs from the StarScan software showing the injector balance rates and timing. The 6.7 has alot of control software to the injectors and they should be able to provide this with no effort.

I would run, run fast to Cummins or another dealer and have them checked. Even if they say they changed them how would you know if they actually did and just took your money, which IMO is what they are trying to do.

$10,000 is insane , no wonder are economy is in the crapper. Who in their right mind would pay that? Whats a new Cummins engine cost? What does that tell about the rest of the trucks worth?

Well I just talked to my brother for you. He can't imagine what's going on.
He said to get another dealer quick cause he thinks he could buy a whole rebuilt motor ready to drop in for less.
He thinks rebuilt injectors cost about $180 for a 5.9 maybe a little more for the 6.7. If they were $250, you'd be talking 1500 plus labor.
Bottom line is your dealer is a crook.

sounds like they might be trying to change the injectors with the hood still on and the vavle cover in place, otherwise how do they come up with such a high number to change the injectors.
