Injectors - Go big or go home?

I am looking to get injectors soon. I am not planning on spending more than $500 on them. What hole size do you guys think I should run with a Phat Shaft 62/14? I want at least 370's [5 x .012], if not 435's [5 x.014] or higher. Question is can I keep them from melting down on a hard 0-80mph run? How about towing? New Era recommended 370's, but 435's if I watch the pyro. I know a guy locally who runs a 5 x .018 on a stock charger, he says it gets pretty hot, but he also never tows or pulls.

I'd go with 12V injectors from DDP.

That's just me.

Guy on my camaroz28.com board recommended me to there. Although I'd like to see some numbers from those injectors. Stage 1 and 2 mean nothing unless I know what they are.

DDP are nice, but I dont have $900 for injectors, $500 would be pushing it.

A hard 0-80 run should only take a few seconds when running empty, so no harm there. Different story if you were dragging a travel trailer however! The big key on a blast run and eying the pyro is the time duration. Pegging the pyro (IF you can) every now and then doesn't hurt.. the important things are; Don't hold it there long and how quick does the needle fall back into the safe zone (sub 1250*). I wouldn't suggest using one of these trucks in a high speed chase either.. things get pretty toasty when running at 2700 or more. A ported head and cam would help.

I don't think towing should be a problem with the 62/14.. get the injectors, hook to the trailer and hit the hills. Detune your plate until you get consistent 1100-1200 degrees on the pyro on the uphills running like you normally run or a little above that (a touch harder). You could also rig up a valet switch.

I'd suggest the 435s for you, I believe they are the current bang for the buck leader.

Running 5x.018s on a stock 35?? He must not be phased by plasma hot EGTs! That's recipe for meltdown! Even 370s can get warm with a good flowing 35/16.

i have DDP's in mine and don't have a bad thing to say about them great injector... actually my new DDP's should be here today there just a little pricey wish i would of found COAL TRAIN injectors b4 i bougth these but o well DDP is a good injectors

I run a set of 5x16's now and I'm really happy with them. I got them used (just one year) but they came from schied. I only gave 400 bucks for them I ran a set of 5x22 but they were way too big!! they were hard to drrive w/o smokeing a lot and even with the pump turned down when I hit a hill it would start dumping smoke. for just street driveing a would not go higher than 5x16 unless you are running twins.

Im in the same predicament. I want something streetable but enough to light up twins. Im pretty sure im going with DDP4's and stock DVs (181). It seems the delivery valves are important for having a "clean" burn. I talked to a guy that had stock injectors with lazer cuts and couldnt clean up with twins. For the price of a cheap new turbo, you can build a set of twins with a grinder and welder. not to push you in that direction or anything but it was the best setup and the cheapest for me. You can run your fuel plate back to cut fuel and if you need more just move it when the time comes. I just dont want to buy a DDP2 and wish I got the 4's. Buy it once and be done with it. Im not sayin go for DDP4s, im just sayin dont go too small and have to buy twice.
