Injector Stuck and filled the engine full of diesel!
Well, this is my second go around with an injector problem. 1st one was stripped injector studs (where the wires connect). The dealership replaced the front two injectors. Ever since then I've had a random "pop" at idle. It's just once in a while, but when it does it, it's violent. It started getting worse and I should've taken it in a long time ago. Saturday I drove across town, and started smelling diesel fumes in the cab. I turned around and headed home immediately. By the time I got there the undercarraige of the entire truck was doused in oil/diesel mix. The tailgate was completely black. I checked the oil and it's about 6" above the fill line. Can that much fuel blow by the rings? It doesn't really seem like it's got a miss, it just used 1/8 tank of fuel in 3 miles!!! It's getting trailered to the dealer today, I hope that cylinder isn't hurt...What are my odds of the engine being ok?

the injector or injectors would have been leaking out the top which drains into the oil pan.In some cases you could cause some bearing damage, sounds like you did not go far but you could ask them to check it out when you have the truck in.

Are any of these mods increasing fuel rail pressure ?
Any chance the injector connector tubes got reused if injectors were changed or weren't torqued properly when injectors were installed ?
Any chance your engine head has gotten extremely hot ?

if the fuel connector were leaking , they would return the fuel thru the return line in the back of the head. and rail press. would have dropped to the point it wouldnt run or start. most likely you lost a injector o-ring , otherwise you would have had a miss and loads of smoke coming from the exhaust.

I concer with the injector tube may not have been torqued correctly, or were re-used. These tubes need to properly torqued or else they will leak fuel causing a poor running injector. The worse part is most mechanics out their figure it is all right to just snug them up.
Good luck and keep us informed on your matter

It's at the dealership now, I haven't heard anything from them, but I'm positive either one of the injectors that they replaced was defective, or wasn't torqued properly like you stated. I know that they would've reused the injector tubes.

Ouch. I feel for ya. Most of these that I have seen (on the forums), the engine is fine (when they didn't try to drive 40 miles to the dealer), but the turbo rarely survives. Seems their bushings might be a little more sensitive. They almost always report turbo whine and end up replacing it.

Sounds like a familiar story, After three injectors mine is fine now. Three injectors 2,4 and 5 all had burst o-rings. 1 with the quad and two stock. (I had the box removed for a while after the first went) Cummins did the repair and all is fine now. My question is this, does raising the rail pressure cause this to happen? If it does, maybe it's time to lose the box I can't afford this! At what setting does the quad raise the pressure? Mine is the 30-60-100 box. And the first went running on 100.

Unless the injector O Ring leaks. I kind of think that leaking connector tubes are what cause the O Rings to fail, but I don't have any data to support that.

Well I got the truck back, and it actually runs better than ever. Huge difference in power once I put my TST&etc. back on... But now I'm getting a PO299 code randomly. The truck doesn't miss or stumble ever, but it just kicks this code and goes into limp mode. Anybody know what this code is? It's not on the list, and my BDDL doesn't say what it is either...
