How important are injectors? How good/bad are the stock injectors? Recommendations if I am only looking for no more than 500 horsepower.

stock can get you there and easily you want good filtration that is the key 2 micron or a 5 micron drop in from baldwin

I am going with 50 hp tips. I think the stock ones are fine but these tips will increase power and increase fuel mileage. Not overly pricey either.

Stock will be fine IMO if you don't use pressure to get to 500hp. Also I would seriously consider better fuel filtration, this is one of the keys to healthy injectors, and is especially important on the 04.5-07 trucks because they run higher rail pressures all around.
