Injector Pump Replaced on my 04

Just want to share what has happened to my 04 over the last 10 days.

We were in Idaho and Washington for a wee brake with the TT, all had gone well and truck pulled trailer ,#8500 lbs, great as always. So on the way home Monday the 10th, pulling up a small hill, "pop" it said and No power instantly. Got myself over in the right lane and found a spot to pull off the road right at the top of the hill. @ Fairmont Hot Springs, BC. There was absolutely No warning or earlier hesitation.

4 hours later the 4 of us and the truck made it home to our town, on top of a tow truck with a deck.

The next morning the fun began and they could not get the high pressure injector pump released from Dodge, mmmmmmmmmm more tests were needed and the dealer was told some of them have failed due to modifications?? Me?? I would not do that, would I. So I checked around and started sweating. Called Dishman Dodge in Spokane and asked for advise, but realised I was likely on my own. (supplier of the Predator) They confirmed the OBD II can document earlier settings, so I just waited. Checked with the mechanic who performed the tests and started hoping for good news. (at that time a substantial bribe was also in my mind)

But, would'nt you know it, the approval came last Thursday and the pump was replaced, still did not work so the pressure relief valve had to be replaced also. Had to wait until Monday for that part, but really no big deal. We have 4 other vehicles, drove the Ridgeline for a while.

And the total bill was ZERO.

My truck has 108000 km on it today, and the lift-pump has been replaced Twice in the last 2 years, but it was working fine this time. I was hoping it has gone so it would be upgraded to th 05 fix with a pusher style.

Just hope the lift-pump fails in the next year, while I am close to a dealership.

FYI you have no "injection pump", but rather a "high pressure pump".....and yes, mods that cause increased rail psi can lead to an early death of the psi relief valve. It is a safety valve of sorts and is not made to be used very often. If the valve sees high enough psi to open the high psi can often cut the sealing surface of the valve rendering it useless after that.

here is the quote from the work order:

my question will be why did they replace the CP3 , they should have been able to troubleshoot that relief valve..... sounds like they just threw parts at it till it was fix.
