Injector knock repair your self

On my 2003 i had a injector knock but star woulldnt warrenty 75000 miles .Sounded like a rod was comming through the block.Bought the special tools removed all 6 injectors sent off to N W fuel injection service in BC ,couldnt find any one in the us that could clean and repair.Got the injectors back had to buy one new one bought it from a cummins dealer 350.00 half the price of dodge and i really didnt want to buy from dodge when they wont stand behind anything.Knock gone very happy. Also removed the fuel tank and cleaned you wouldnt beleive the **** in the tank .I also add another filter and flushed the lines and pumps and common rail You know what they say you want it done right do it your self. I will be testing fuel at the fuel pump in a clear jar before putting in my tank.I was at the dealer saw another tank out of a truck full of **** sitting on the floor diesel tank

FYI a injector knock comes from a leaky injector or pluged injector sooner or later it will hurt you engine by too much fuel washing the cylinder or not enough fuel for lube The knock really is the engine knocking not the injector its like changeing injector timming just on one cylinder

I am kinda confused, wouldn't the injectors be covered under the 5/100,00 engine warranty?

If STAR has their hand in it, anything and everything is either normal or not covered under warranty.

TroyH if you go to avlube.com you can get a fuel test kit for like $50 and test the fuel quality at your local station. If it's way out of wack you will know the cause of your problem, and can report it to the owner/manager...or find a new station..

I would make one recommendation about the filter you added to your CR engine , dont make it less than 100 micron filter , or you will have problems. basically Cummins only want to see a rock catcher before the lift pump.

Troy , your saying that the mesh in the tank is less than 100 micron ? I dont know. usually the mesh in the tank is a 300 micron, if any filter is used before the lift pump , it should at least be checked so that the restriction is <6 in.hg. .
