Injection pump leak

My dad has a 07 6.7. On top of the pump it is leaking fuel around the plug and keeps breaking the o-ring. Since my dad touched the plug and put a new o-ring on it at 11 o'clock at night with a load of cattle, Dodge decided that it is not under warranty and want $5400 for a new pump. I know there has to be a way to fix a $0.25 o-ring for less than $5400. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? Would a copper washer work?

Depending on how long ago it was at that dealer for the refusal, and if have documentation, you can call the number on the last page of your owners manual. This is direct to the "complaint department" at Chrysler. Your story sounds like it would hold water to me. BOL.
