Infinity Sterio - Is it Broke or Just Lousy?

I got the upgraded infinity sterio w/ my truck. Either it's broke or it just really stinks! First of all, when I play it, the volume is cranked up all the way to max. No I'm not deaf. I still can talk to a passenger, although I have to talked loader. Secondly, with the volume at max, after I pop out a CD that's been playing for more than 10 minutes, it comes out smoking hot. Third, it cuts out on alot of CD's. At first I thought that it was my CD's but anymore, I don't think so. I pull the CD out put another one in (which plays) & then can reinsert the CD that gave me trouble before & it plays. Fourth, the sound quality is lousy. The base/treble controls seem to have no impact. Even with the base set at the minimum, it is very 'boomy' - kind of like a thud that you hear from CHEAP sterios. Is this all normal for Dodge's high end sterio? If it is, I sure would llike to figure out a way to get my money back from the dealer for the upgrade & invest in something decent.

Somthing must be wrong with it. Mine sounds better than the Alpine I had in my PSD. CD's play fine and your right, it isn't very loud.

There's something wrong with the system. I rarely get the volume above level 10 on the radio and 12 for the CD.
Have the dealer replace the radio.

Busted.

Broken, that is, I would think. It's not the high end of auto audio, but it's a far cry above my 2001's Infinity stereo. I think your's is rather out of sorts and I would take it to the dealer and have them replace it.

I agree there is something wrong with your stereo. The sound quality isn't the best I have heard but not bad for a factory stereo.

I want to know who's bright idea it was to put 3-way speakers in the drivers door. My stereo set at 8-10 will still shake my mirrors and the bass is in the middle. I listen to rock music as well. Anyone have a fix for this?

Dynomat the doors...and add foam speaker baffles if that does not work. The baffles will "tighten" up the low frequencies some. You may or may not like that...so try the dynomat first.
