Infinity stereo questions (again amp)

Hi All, I have a aftermarket stero being installed tomorrow at noon and wish to educate myself on that Infinity Amplifier.

From what I read, the amp powers the front speakers only? not the rear(deck powers rear?) Is this true? or does it power all four?

If so, I assume you hook up the rca pre-amp outs into the Infinity amp for the front, and the deck powers the rear?

Any hints on the install so I can keep the tech guys on their toes

Cheers

I assume you are leaving the stock Infinity speakers installed and having a new head unit installed...There is a wire (green or blue I think) that is the remote turn on for the amp in the speakers. Connect this to the remote turn on or power antenne (sp). Should power up and play.

On edit: It is the blue wire. Also if there is a green or black wire attached (screwed) to the back of factory deck, it needs to be grounded to the chassis as it is the ground for the amps in the speakers.

I put new 6x9's in when going to an aftermarket deck. Shouldn't be more than $100 CDN for a nice set of speakers. I know there is amps on each of the front Infinity speakers, not sure about the back since I didn't hook those up.

The rear speaker on each side is powered by a small amp/crossover on the front door 6x9, for Infinity systems. That is correct about the blue turn-on wire that must be hooked up for that amp to kick on.

You should notice a good improvement in your sound from the head unit replacement alone. I have replaced the entire thing from the head unit to all speakers and wires with good aftermarket components. I noticed the biggest improvement with the head unit.

Good luck replacing that $750 waste-of-money Infinity stereo option.

Howdy, If you have th infinity system you probably have an amp on the back of each speaker. They are crap. They have no rca input as they use high level input which allows you to put an aftermarket stereo in without any problems. There are however wires that bypass all of this already in the door. The front set you should have a tweeter higher up in the door, these wires there are directly connected to the deck (check with meter if you need too).Use those to install your 6x9's the rear speakers have four wires. Two of which are directly connected to the stereo. Its pretty easy after that. Need any help PM me as I do this every day at Circuit city. I love this site
