indicator light,trans

on the dash of my truck, 03, the shift indicator only lights in park, and neutral, doesn't light any other gears. i talked to my tranny guy, he said it could be a park/neutral safety switch, but he wasn't sure. anybody have this problem, or know what it could be?
my tranny still don't like me, i can't pull hard from a dead stop in first gear, cause it goes to like 4000rpm, if i let off the pedal, it will shift into second, then all is fine, just the first to second gear shift it doesn't like. has a trans go shift kit in it right now, going to be changing out for a sun coast VB.

The gear indicator lights are driven off the range selector switch on the side of the trans. Sounds like something did not get aligned correctly when the VB was installed.

tranny was done last year, and they did some pressure changes to my tranny like 4 months ago, maybe happened then? i don't know.its never been right since the trans go kit, thats why i have a sun coast VB to try out.i am pretty sure the indicator lights works couple months ago.
