Impressions after installing Quad boost fooler - Smarty owners welcome!
I run with smarty sr on level 5, TM3, Timing 2, RP 2. Befor the boost fooler I would only see 28 psi at wot (stock turbo). Sometimes it would quickly spike up to 32psi but would right away drop to and hold at 28 psi. Exhaust was real smokey and EGTs would climb. Now with the fooler the turbo spools as high as 40 psi at wot and will hold at any psi depending on how heavy my foot is. The truck actually pulls a little harder now. Exhaust is not nearly as black as befor and the EGTs have cooled off by about 200-300 degrees. Now if I romp on it hard from a dead stop I can still blackout an intersection. Overall I'm very happy with this mod. After reading countless posts on the whether or not smarty sr does adequate boost fooling for stock turbo situations, I came to the conclusion that no one really knows if it does or not. Seems even on near stock trucks, like mine, that it really comes down to the truck. Some trucks may benefit from the fooler while others may not. But for the price of the boost fooler, I would say just go ahead and get one if you are on the fence.
