Important Smarty info ^^^^^
Admins I dont know if this is allowed or not since it is at the top of the page so if it isnt please delete.
I always skip the bulletins or what ever they are at the top of the page as they never pertain to me. But for you guys with the Smarty programers runnin the beta SW please read the sticky/bulletin at the top of the 3rd gen high performance section wich should be right above this thread, for a while anyway.
Again, the thread is already started but this seems important to me and think a lot of you guys will want to read it.

I just thought that what Bob was sayin was important enough for me to start a thread on it and let yall form your own opinions.

dont get all spun up fellas.
IF you take your truck to the dealer and they reflash it, the current programs(betas too) will not work.
If you do not take your truck in and get reflashed, you have nothing to worry about.
If you have the betas or any other mads SW saved onto your home computer, you can load and switch till your hearts content. your truck has no means of knowing there is an update from DC until it is flashed.
THis morning i went from my normal wild version to beta 4.2 and no trouble whatsoever.
have fun

yeah so now you have to worry or wounder if the dealer is going to flash your ecm EVERYTIME you take your truck in for service....even oil changes
some dealers are on top of the updates and whether you ask for a flash/update or not you may end up getting it
this is a big pain in my eyes.........

This is the same as it's always been with the smarty....the only difference, thus the reason Bob posted above, is that only the production sw will be updated with the latest flash, not the beta's...so if your a beta user and wish to continue to be....don't get your truck flashed.....it's not a concern once the production sw's incorporate the beta improvements...and i believe that's what Marco's working on....Thanks for the heads up Bob, i'd freak if i lost 4.4....

my brother in law took his truck in for a lift pump replacement and now the smarty doesnt recognize the software in the computer due to dealer reflash. he is using standard smarty software, not beta but it still wont work. i do his updates so any info on when the new software will be on the MADS website?

true...I had a bunch of free oil changes I wanted to use but every time I take my truck in they screw something up or get grease all over the place...so now I will just let my oil changes go to waste....if you want it done right it's gotta be done yourself I even go to a 5 star dealer......but it does not matter straight time tech's have to do every thing FAST thats how they make their money.....sadly sometimes it means taking short cuts

Same scenario. One dealer tech filled my truck with 15 quarts of 10W30! And bent the heck out of the condenser fins. Another visit and they wiped the "Dodge" off the valve cover. They also told me they couldn't align my truck under warranty (under 12k miles) because it had BFG 285's and wouldn't fit their alignment rack
At any rate, I think we still have it better than the Ford gang. I remember bringing in my '04 F450 for an oil change. I got it back and it was like they took away 50 hp. They reflashed it w/o asking and put in the new program to save the turbo (didn't work, by the way) and it lost all throttle response.
I had no idea that if I load a newer version of a Smarty file I can't go back to an older file. Is that correct? I don't have a Smarty yet (sourcing funds currently ) but I've downloaded all the files in anticipation. I guess I'm going to free up some hd space...
I have to say I've never seen such an involved vendor supporting his product. Good job Marco & Bob!
