important gauges

Please tell me which gauges are the most important to install in my 1 ton diesel & why?I am referring to additional aftermarket gauges that will help me save trouble later & help to solve running problems.

Welcome to DTR Go to the upper left of this page and click on usercp and fill out your signature so we know what your rig is. It's hard to say what gauges you need without knowing what you're driving

The most important gauge in any truck is the under seat gas detector. Lets you know who ripped it and how deadly the fumes are.

Sorry guys, thought I had filled out my signature. Let us try again. Oh, BTW, my nose is still my best gas detector.

For a stock truck I would say, fuel, trans, EGT, boost in that order.

Fuel, Fuel, Fuel.... Did I mention fuel? Take it from some one that DIDN'T do it this way and paid for it!

If you're Fuel pressure drops, you won't be moving, so your egt (exhaust gas temp) won't be an issue, nor will you be creating boost....

If you're towing and stock I'd get Fuel pressure, Trans, then egt and then boost. The order after fuel isn't really going to matter as you'll probably end up getting those 3 in a package (boost, egt, and trans temp) with an a-pillar pod to hold them. You can do 3 on the a-pillar and one on the steering column or have someone make it so you can do all 4 on the a-pillar w/ fiberglass...

Welcome!

How much do you tow? If you tow a lot I'd go EGT, fuel, tranny and boost. If you don't tow I'd say fuel , tranny, EGT, and boost.

Smile Thanx

So, Fuel pressure,EGT(ex.gas temp) & boost, since I am not running an automatic tranny is what I need. Should these be mechanical or available with sending units & which is best for the buck.

I would go with electrical. They are a few more $$, but I like the simplicty of them.

That is a good setup for towing or playing!
