Im leaking water help.
This weekend I heard a strange noise almost like a hissing sound. My batter gauge was going south and then my check gauges light came on. I pulled over at the gas station and saw a pulled under the engine. I though it was oil but soon realized it was more like water and probably coolant. Opened the hood and saw a spay of water on the inside of the hood and rusty looking water all over the place. Poked around the inside and couldnt seem to find the source. I still got water in the radiator but all of the coolant is gone.
Now the water drip is pretty much directly under the engine. I felt all the hose i could get to and none seem cracked or leaking. Could this be a bad water pump? I have about 50k more or less miles on it.
Please help with some advice. If it is the water pump its covered by the dealer but if it ant then i got to fork out 200 bucks just for them to diagnosis it.
thanks and sorry for the long post.

Moved it for you.
Yes, the water pump is covered up to 100k. Look in your warranty book, it says it is covered under the cummins 100k. If you are over 70k, you will have to give a $100 deductible.

I had the same thing happen here recently and it was the water pump. I could see the orange rusty signs under the hood as well. I was at 110k miles so I had to replace. Easy job thought biggest PIA was putting the belt back on....

Just a plain ole guy
If you have two small vice grips, lightly clamp the belt in place while letting the slack off the idler. It's a bit tricky, but I did it. The remove the two bolts and pop the pump off.
