I'm Back!
Hey guys! Glad to be finally able to get back into this place! Been internet-less while in the process of this move, but i am in Anchorage, Alaska (have been since the 4th of Oct). The Alaska Highway was interesting, but the CTD pulled like a champ and only got a couple of chips in the windshield. My total combined weight was 14,440 lbs and I still got an average of 14.9 mpg (70 mph most of the way up). Did have to downshift on some of the mountains, man, the grades on that road are no joke! I think the trailer's brakes are toast! So far I like it here, weather is better here than in Montana ! Anyway, I am sure there are alot of good posts out there for me to catch up on! Thanks to those of you that gave me info and tips on Alcan driving! The trip went well. -Steve

Glad you made it OK. That trip is one that my wife and I have talked about for the last 18 years and so far, all we have decided is, yup, someday we are going to do it. She was born in AK and I'm from MT so would make for a fun trip. Only problem is I would not want to leave.
Good to see ya back.

Glad the trip went good with minimal damage. The damage thing is NOT what I want to hear about. See ya next summer, good Lord willing. Can't wait - - ready to go now and I just got home. However, when I think about the winter up there versus Florida, I think I will wait. Warmer heads prevail. Or did I get that confused.

Dr Evil- quite the adventure driving thru your wilderness up there in Canada. Beautiful drive, cept for snow here and there and caribou, moose, and buffalo just hanging out on the road. That was interesting on snow with electric brakes and a heavy load ! Loved northern BC and the Yukon. Incredible country.
Westcoast- I like the "Frozen CTD" idea, except it's a balmy 19 degrees out so I dont know if I could get away with that!

Welcome back, Steve! How about "CTDsicle" for a screen name? I, likewise, am dreaming of the trek to the great North. But it's going to have to wait until I am able to retire. (2 years)
