IH 1206 turbo diesel.
I have a 1206 IH tractor that pushes 5psi of boots and pulls 15psi of vacume *sp. I got a cheap guage just to see how much Press. the turbo was pushing. From what I can tell it would run almost the same with a little hightr compreshion ratio and no turbo. Is there anythoughts to this?
DM01

I would be happy to take it off of your hands. ;D I don't think it would fit in my garage but I would find a home for it. By the time I have a place to put a 1206 they will be so expensive that I won't be able to afford one. As for getting a green tractor thats the worst idea I've heard in a long time. ;D

Re:IH 1206 turbo diesel.
I bought this tractor three ywars ago and it has been a freat tractor but it does not pull as hard as our 666 IH which pushes 115hp on the dyno while the 1206 should push 112. I took the air filter off the tractor and the turbo has some slop in it but not a whole lot. I started it and held my hand infront of the turbo where the air comes out and goes into the intake for the engine and it pushed my hand away so I know it is getting boost from the turbo. I put is back together and put a guage where the port is for a boost guage on these tractors. Nothing over 3-5 psi even when pulling hard. When I back the throttle off all the way from WOT and let the engine stop me it pulls like 10pis of vacume. This does not make sense to me.
DM01
I bleed red and that is what my tractors are.
IH POWER

"Nothing Runs Like A Deere" except a farmers cheque book at a parts counter covered in green and yellow parts. "Green Things Grow In A Field" not farmers and tractors. All turbo charged engines draw vacuum when not producing turbo boost otherwise they would not run at all. Naturally aspirated diesels usually are the same engines with lower power ratings with some internal differences. The 3-5 psi boost would have to be verified with the shop specifications, if boost is low many different things in the engine could be causing it. Signs of low boost would be excessive black smoke continously under load, plugged air filters, injection pump settings, loose connections/cracked gaskets from turbo to intake manifold, manifold to head gaskets, head gaskets, timing, valve settings and bad injectors. Some the older engines were not designed for high manifold pressures. PK

I'm glad my Ih does not run like a deer. I would be dead on the roadside all the time. We have two big farmers that live around here together they farm 24k acres of land. Every tractor is red. o by the way we just bought a new Case IH Disc bine today. 10'9" cutting width I think. can't wait to use it.
DM01

Sounds to me like your tractor is ready for a little more fuel. I hate to say this but whats the fuel filter situation. One more thing does it have a lift pump. I think that it could handle a little more boost. I wonder also what your egts are like, that would tell you a lot. Let us know what you find out.

A 1206 has a 361 cid. turbo
An 806 is the same engine only no turbo.
I've got a 806 with an after market turbo kit on it.
Runs like a scalded dog, it could stand an overhaul now days but it has served me well.
I will look up what the boost should be on a 1206. I should have it in a service book here somewhere.
Remind me with a pm if I don't get back soon.
I like the red ones better also. They are alot cheaper HP.
The green ones are good but that green paint is about $2000 a gal. It has to be I know the metal in them isn't worth that much. ;D

; Eddie : 8)
