Ideas for source for something to tow
Here is the situation i have a truck i bought out west that i will be flying out to drive back home it is a 3/4 ton ext cab long box/cap 4x4 auto cummins power of course. I will be traveling across 3/4 of the country back to Michigan i have put an ad on here in the classifieds and several times on yesterdays tractors with no luck so far. I did do 2 offers for well under 1 dollar per mile on yesterdays tractors so i do not think i am over priced do you ???
What other places do you suggest other than uship i know their are a lot of unrealistic people on there for example one guy wants his boat towed from Vegas to Richmond VA for $400 or less in other words you pay him for the honor.
I am just trying to recover some of my expense for the long trip and my time is running short so what would you suggest ????????
Please do not turn this thread into an ad and get it padlocked by asking me to do something for you if you have a question send me a PM please ! THIS THREAD is for ideas and information only !!!!!!!!!
Thank you for your input

I suggest you forget it . A person would have to be a fool to ship with someone with no authority . If the DOT stops you they will impound the load and hold it until a carrier with authority is contracted to haul it . The fines you get will make fuel look real cheap .

Not to mention the insurance issue, should you be involved in an accident, you and your truck and the load will not be covered because you won't have commercial insurance.
Your auto insurance carrier will drop you like a hot potato and not pay a dime. If someone is injured in the accident you will be responsible for them as well.
Your idea could cost you a million dollars or more if the trailer you are pulling blows a tire and smacks a crunchibishi next to it on the Interstate, injuring the 3 adults and 2 children mangled up in side it.
Or even worse..........

Here's a switch in your thinking mode...have you checked into what rail cost would be to get your truck back to Michigan as I'm sure their is some empty rail cars headed back that way.. Just a thought.

Also the passenger car plates you will have on there does not license you too carry more than 8000lbs combined. Just buck it up pay the fuel and come home safe and not in jail.

Have you checked to see what it would cost to get it transported. Might save alot of head ache's.
Do the math and see what way you come out the best. Getting it hauled might be cheaper than you think.

Auto transporters are complaining about low rates for auto . Going rate is $.60 -$.70 a mile . U-ship does have legitimate carriers that will post their DOT number . The legitimacy of a given DOT number can be checked at safestat.org

Not too mention you can get a carriers contact info there... I prefer safersys.org myself, and go to company snapahot!
