ideas on how to get a 500hp daily driver?

By spring I hope to have a pretty decent full time job. I will still be living at home til I go to college next fall. I'm wanting to mod my truck. I can't afford go below 16mpg. That's where I'm at now with all in town mileage and my foot in it. I can baby it and pull 18 mainly town with some mixed highway. When I get the new job I won't be driving in town as much as I do now due to school.

I have a Bully Dog Triple Dog, have the outlook monitor but it's not installed, muffler delete, silencer ring gone, and that's about it.

What are some ideas to get me around 500 or so rear wheel horse and still drive it daily? I've been thinking about selling the bully dog stuff and getting a Smarty and Quad Commander. I've also been looking at the PPE Xcelerator and ATS module that's supposed to put out 215 horse. Anybody know anything about those two?

You can get fairly close to 500 with a Smarty, another box like TST PMCR w/r59, 4 in exhaust, decent muffler, air cleaner like afe-but you're going to get pretty hot egt's, maybe water injection will help a little. Might have to upgrade the clutch unless you're careful, (don't dump it and expect it to live). I think you'll probably get to 450 depending on the version of the Smarty. By the way, I have the Quadzilla Commander, and I like it a lot, IMO a good buy. You'll have to watch the boards but the Van Aakan C5 (which works well with Commander) may be another good box too. Don't think you'll break 500 with stock turbo, but you may get fairly close, probably need HTT or II 62-14 or 62-12 to get to 500 or over (unless you use nitrous)
You'll get a lot of help here to spend your money!!

Don't think that any of this will hurt your mileage, unless you're putting you're foot into it more, should help a little, maybe 2-3 mpg.

stock is about 270 hp at the wheels

Quadzilla race -140
DDP honed injectors -90 hp

there is 500hp exactly

supporting mods:

tranny upgrades
turbo
Lift pump
maybe a CP3 if needed or the wicked Diesel CP3 Arson kit ($380) 30% better flow - pump can be modded on the truck.

Hot Juice, mp-8, Aroura 3k turbo, GDP lift pump, Floor It stage 1 cp3 made me 502hp/1170lb-ft. That's on a 600 engine. If you have a 555, Morkable can probably point you to 500hp.

well if the truck is a 6spd is an HO. the smarty stacked with a tst and a bigger turbo of some kind will get you 500. thats all I had on my truck to dyno a sad 490hp. its more than that but they dyno I was on wasnt very good. a local 03 that is NOT a 6spd made 526 with that ats downloader, a tst box & a silver bullet turbo. yes you will need a clutch. you get over 500hp for a fact on stock injectors. I would keep the bully dog and just stack it with a tst. then get a bigger turbo.

Also you learn something (or can) everytime you dyno, just tuning can net you a bunch of hp.

Upgrade your triple dog to the 2.4.D and get a pressure box, such as Dr. performance, edge ez, mp-8, sp-diesel, quad. All should in theory stack well with this version of crazy larry due to it having more timing/duration with no pressure. Dual feed line and a diy cp3 mod should keep you good on fuel with a gdp lift pump. Turbo isnt going to last long with that kind of egts a phat shaft 62 or HTT 62mm turbo or a BD Super B or Super B special will do ya. And either a south bend, valair, or haisley mach. clutch. That should get you 500hp. Any more fuel and you will need stixs and upgraded cp3.

I do have the updated version of the Triple Dog. It's just that I heard Crazy Larry on an '03 was just about the same as the extreme tune.

I personally have no experience with the BDDL stuff but on my 03 I really like the Diablosport Predator and the Puck, I cant blame you for not wanting to buy another programer. On my 03 on the RKL programs the rail sometimes runs dry, so you will probably need to do some work on your cp3 and buy a walboro, or fass kit. Once you get the fuel to it, you can make some serious hp, injectors, turbo, etc....

Smarty, and a powermax + a FASS 150 should put you around 475-480, but you will need a clutch and to watch your EGT's pretty close. Plus the usuals intake and exhaust. Might as well throw in a SPS62 while your at it and you'll be set. $4500 should get you there with ease
