How much horsepower can an hx40w turbo support. Also what are its weeknesses and strengths. And what can i do to raise that hp or make it more reliable. (i.e compressor/impeller wheel upgrade) I need to keep an hx40w because no other turbo will fit with my banks exhaust brake which has to stay on.

I believe the stock hx40 has issues with a weak impeller shaft and it seems the pdr hybrid comes well recommended or maybe the bd super b(4 inch outlet is what you need for your exhaust brake right???). Do a search on this site. Sure you'll come up with tonnes about the hx40 and fill out your signature so people know what you have so they can help you better.

ill fill it out prolly tomorrow. No my banks brake just dosent clip in it actually bolts to the back of an hx turbo. There is a backing plate on a 2nd gen 12 valve turbo and that plate unbolts and the brake can bolt right to it. If it wasnt for this id look at a different turbo.
