HX40 on a 2004 truck
how well do you guys think this setup will work if it will work at all on my 2004.5 common rail motor. input and info would be great

It will work... however the benefit gained over the stock (he351w) turbo will be small if any. They also have a reputation for weak shafts and low service life as a result.

I had a super 40 on my first gen and it was very slow to spool. On that truck the stock turbo was too so it didn't matter. I liked it a lot on that truck, but I'm not so sure that it would be a very good choice for a common rail.

The HX40 is not ideal for our trucks, they are a little weaker and more intended for the 12 and 24 VP crew. If you are looking for a substantial volume increase more suited for a common rail, look at the Phat Shafts, HTT ss series, or the Garrett Ball bearing turbos.
