htt stainless
does anybody have any experience with htt 71ss turbos yet. i have a quick diesel and it is no fun to tow with. would i be better going down to a 62/14 or staying with the 64 and getting the stainless 13 housing. once this turbo spools, its fine, it just takes a long time to spool going up a hill with a trailer, and its around 1200 degrees before it even thinks about spooling up

Last year i had a II SPS 62 on my truck, with some 300 injectors, towing sucked. Went back to the stock injectors, same thing, towing sucked. Got rid of the SPS and wound up with a DD Jammer turbo, the Jammer tows great, but I just got the itch to try the HTBG with a stainless 13 housing this summer.

Coincidence
Amazing this topic gets posted....I just finished sending a PM to HeberRam for more information on his personal opinion of his research. Do a search and read HeberRam's postings on beta testing the new SS, both 62's and 64's. I talked with Dave at HTT twice last week regarding my setup and the new SS. I really like my setup unloaded, except for the smoke generated initially in low-boost conditions. For towing, its okay during the cooler days and sea-level, but on a hot South Carolina day, forget it. I haven't turned the TST on for many, many months because of EGT issues, especially towing. I also do not like the lag with a load. The HTB2 doesn't lite off until around 1700-1800 RPM. Once it lites off, its okay, but until then, it makes me want my 275's and PDR Hybrid 35/14wg back. The new SS 62 lites off at 1300!
I put my name on the list to modify my HTB2 to a 62/71/13 ASAP.

so should i go with the 62/14 or 62/13ss. does the ss really make that big of a difference? i kind of asked this question before i got my 64/14, and it sounded like the 64 was the way to go. as soon as i ordered it, it seems like everyone started bragging on the 62. nothing is ever as easy as you think it is going to be. i guess ill try the 62 now, and if it goes the way everthing else i do goes, ill probably have to try 3 other sized turbos. lol

Only you can answer that question. What is the predominent condition you wish the truck to perform its absolute best in? If its towing, hot street, or racing, each set-up is quite different. There is no one scenario that cover's all bases.
Perhaps this will also explain my garage shelf of turbos and injectors
