HTT SS wastegate???
I have heard there have been some wastegate issues on the ss housings and am just wondering if there has been a fix for that yet as I am looking at getting a new turbo sometime soon? Should I wait a while longer if there hasn't been a fix or should I go a different route?

The issues I have known of are from over a yr ago and have been resolved. I have had mine for a little over a year and not a single problem. I haven't seen any problems out of the ss housing round here, only manifold to turbo gaskets blowing out, but mine hasn't done that either yet.

According to HTT this is a fairly isolated problem. On my 05 I have a 66/16ss on top of a S480. At 82psi, it is running about 90psi of drive pressure. Once the wastegate on the top turbo opens, there is a lot of hot exhaust gases that are going through the wastegate. Much more so then you would typically see when the turbo is used in a single turbo application. With this amount of heat the wastegate shaft would bend, and not close both pucks of the wastegate. The easiest way to tell is to take the cover off the wastegate and with the wastegate closed (it should be if the cover is off.), and check to see if both pucks have tension holding them closed. If not call the dealer you purchased the turbo from. The fix involves a larger shaft, and a pivoting puck holder (for lack of a better term).

I just got back from a 6 hour drive, each way, to/from Vegas, with varying freeway speeds of 70-90mph, so boost levels were pretty much above 10psi the entire way. I got home on Monday and the wastegate seems to be functioning perfectly! I start seeing positive boost pressure at 1400 rpms around town driving, same as when I left, so I'm pretty excited about this fix!
