hours

I just found out you can bring up your hours on your engine, I just bought a 05 cummins with 114,000 miles, I know it can vary, but what would be a realistic amount of hours for that truck, its been on the road since jan,05. thanks Pete wi.

Well how many hours does the engine have on it. Mileage devided by hours gives you and average miles per running hour.

Generally around 30 mile per running hour is probably lot of city/short trip usage.

The higher the miles per running hour generally means highway and maybe towing mileage.

Lots of factors that really make the number useless unless you know the way the truck was used. Things like did they let it idle a lot, etc.

2,850 hrs would net you about 40 mph average.......any more hours than that, and it could have been idled excessively.

Mine with 106k is at 2684 which works out to around 39.49 average.

I am definately not a let it idle person if that helps at all.

I would guess I am 50/50 for Highway/Local driving.

Caterpillar used 35 mph in 1hr as a average North American rate and 30mph for a European rate. You have to be on the highway a lot to get it above 40mph.

Motorhead,

You need to turn the key on but do not start the truck. Push and hold the button on the dash while the mileage is displayed and it will change to hours.
I had found a note I had with this and is why I posted (106k is at 2684 hours) for my truck.

Curious what other have for mileage/hours..
