Hour Meter

Do the 03 have an hour meter. I know my over head console has an elapsed time meter but is there an hour meter biult inot he odometer or somewhere other than the console that will keep a running total # of hours. I know the chevy has one...oh and my truck was shiped without 16 body drain plugs!!! something new to look for.

Re:Hour Meter

Yeah it does. You have to turn the key on, then hold the odo/trip meter button down for a while (10s or so?), then the engine hour display will illuminate. I think its in the manual somewhere too.

If you're holding that button down with key off, then turn the key on, the instrument panel will go into a built in test mode - tach, speedo and lights will start cycling through the test.

Re:Hour Meter

OK, I'm confused, what is the difference between the overhead console hourmeter and the one built into odometer?

Re:Hour Meter

Overhead timer is just an elasped time timer which can be reset to check travel time, etc. The hour meter is not resetable and shows the total running time on your engine. Look on page 131 of owner's manual.

Re:Hour Meter

You probably don't need an hour meter. However if you operate your vehicle at something other than standard road usage (e.g. stationary or low speed operation) extensively, an engine hour meter is what you use to perform you preventive maintanence (PM) work. Heavy equipment PM work is all based on engine hours.
