Hot Rod Vp or SO Vp
Alright guys, I'm sure this one has been beat to death. However, my VP is so messed up that it stopped sending charge to my lift pump. So, I have to buy a pump today regardless if I'm happy about it or not. Now I have to decide if i want the Hot Rod or SO. I've heard that once you have so many mods the Hot Rod is about the same as the SO, is this true? I really wanna hear from some guys that have the Hot Rod. Lol, dont mention p-pumping it cuz i dont have the funds. My mods are 150 injectors, smarty, hot comp, 62 super phat shaft, Raptor lift pump, head studs, AFE, 5 inch exhaust...
Thanks for the help guys

Well my truck is a ho. I had the ho bdhrvp and now an so. My hrvp from bdpower seized the head and rotor after seven months and they would not cover it. So be careful. I prefer the so for the simple fact that it runs just as good up top and actually revs more than before. The hrvp and ho had the same bottom end. That I actually miss. But I never felt claimed 100 hp over stock. For such a large price difference that money is better spent else where. I know with this time around and me buying a so I have enough money for some injectors.
Bottom line don't do a hrvp unless you got money to burn. Having a good bottom and top ( mix of ho and so) is nice but not worth it. If you want more bottom buy a smarty. Hrvp have not been proven to fuel more than a so.
Also bd power only offers a 90 day warranty now on the hrvp. Also other companies have told me they don't carry a hrvp because of reliabilty issues. The vp has enough issues already.

Since you already have the Smarty and Hot Comp, I'd say to go with the SO. I think the HRVP44 is good for people that may not have many (if any) electronic fueling mods since it provides good low end. But you already have the Smarty for low end and Comp for top end, so you can save your cash and get the SO.

I had the II HRVP on my 24v and loved it...the lope got annoying sometimes, but the extra power was nice. Grunted down low much harder then the stock VP and from what I have been told, they tolerate being tapped better.

I like my II HRVP once I get it started...
Once it's warmed up, works great. But since installing it, motor starts extremely hard below 40 degrees. Below 10 degrees and it's probably not going to start at all without being plugged in. I'm thinking I'll swap it out for a regular SO VP when I have the money. Way too many cold days in WY to deal with that hassle.

I have dyno-tested so and ho on the same truck and at the wheels there is typically 30hp less with so. My hrvp experience allows me to agree with other posts - not worth the money considering all the compromises .... startability, lope and so on. Don't forget that all the fuel you pump has to flow through the injector to do any good.

when I put a hot rod on my truck it made a huge differance over my stock pump that was still good. I had 90hp injectors and an edge ez for feuling mods at the time. The combo was a little much for the stock turbo. The only down side I have had is cold starting. Below -25 she won't start unless pluged in, above -25c it starts but not always as quick as I would like. I'd probably buy another one.

My vote would be for an S.O. just cause of eveything ive read about HRVP and how good the so has stayed.
If you must have a HR though, give these guys a call.

These are the guys that build II's Pumps.
But sell em for much cheaper.
I have two friends that run HR from GOFF and love em.
But they love smoke and the lope too haha so your call.
