Horn Honks in reverse

Horn Honks in reverse
I took my truck to the dealer for some service. And without asking me they made it so if the truck is in reverse when I open the door, the horn comes on. I hate this when I am trying to hitch up my boat!!!!! They told me there was a recall for this. The dealer where I bought the truck asked me one time if I wanted this done. I said no. Was ok with them. A diff dealer didn't ask though. Anyone know how to fix, other than disconnect the horn??

From what I understand this is irreversible once the ECM is reprogrammed. I did have it installed because I wanted to make sure I was as safe as possible while while hitching up my 5er, but I agree, it sure is a dumb way to fix a safety issue.

This has been discussed many times and if the 'fix' came from the factory then buckling the seat belt will stop it from honking but if it was flashed in at the dealer buckling the seat belt won't shut it up.

Seatbelt Chime and Back-Up Honk Feature TURN OFF
Original Write Up By dodgeram dude
Many of you 3rd Gen Owners are tired of that "Saftey" feature we know as that "Annoying Dingger" Well Here is the Cut and Dry method on how to get rid of that chime.
Here's the procedure...
1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in any position except ON or START, buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for the seat belt warning light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

horn will still honk even if the seat belt chime is turned off.
the fix is to tap the 2 wires together under the seat for the drivers seat belt latch. it is just a ground when the 2 are tapped together. the buckle makes the connection for this ground in normal use. this "tricks" the ecm into thinking the belt is engaged at all times and no horn honk for us that use the doors to manipulate the mirros when backing up a trailer

I have the same issue. I just push in the button on the truck frame that is used to signal that the door is closed. Otherwise, I'm sure that you figure out what wire it is and disconnect it.
