Jack you know me, I'll bleed red, white, & blue if I get cut, but I don't think this picture is real. Under no circumstances would the honor guard be in the cargo area of a commerical aircraft, even to unload the casket. In fact, I believe only military aircraft are used to transport the fallen to their home of record. I might be wrong, but something ain't right.
I do not want to take away from the meaning of the picture, but our fallen soldiers are treated better than it represents.

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to spoil the mood.
The fact that everyone in the cabin is visible and so many of them are peering out had me thinking they were pasted there.
Sad to think about the loss of life though part anyway.............

I stand corrected.
I did read on a military funeral protacol site it is up to the military (and I assume the family) when and how the casketed body leaves Dover Air Force Base and is delivery to the funeral home near the "home of record" or Arlington National Cemetary. A military escort accompaines the remains.
You would think their last flight would be 1st class.
(Geico trying to bring a little humor to a painfully real subject)

The picture is probably real. The link below doesn't prove that it's real, but it proves (to my satisfaction anyway) that it's common practice for military escorts to use commercial airlines to return our fallen soldiers home after they are processed through the Dover AFB mortuary.

I strongly suggest you guys take 10 minutes to read the link posted above by dieselnewbie.
I read it about a year ago but I thank newbie for posting it again so I could reread it.
