I've read on here that some of you have bought the pump on ebay, and pieced the rest of the kit together at a hardware or auto parts store. Seems pretty simple and much cheaper to go that route.

Question: Where does one get the "fuel bypass valve" ???

LOL.. The bypass valve screwed with my head to...its a check valve. I will have a write up in a week or so if you are willing to wait.

I assume I can buy the check valve on this site, the Walbro pump on ebay, then various brass fittings and fuel line at Home Depot/Lowe's.

Is that it ? What am I missing ? Savings of $200 or more, by my estimation.

Yup...My kit is costing just over $210 with pump and 2 auxillary fuel filters...

the stock lift pumps are well known for dieing prematurely and not delivering enough fuel under a wide open throttle... So this solves that.

Plus, you gain $250 in savings vs the "off the shelf" kit. I can put that towards the wife's new washer/dryer, or towards the "hot" juice upgrade. Hmmm, which one will I pick ???

I haven't heard it mentioned here but are you guys dropping the tank to add another fuel pickup??? I hope you are and you aren't trying to pull thru the stock pump in the tank...

for now Im just going to use the stock pump to supply the walbro.. I will drop the tank eventually and install a new pickup. If I can find the parts locally I will go ahead and drop it.

Once you drop the tank and add the new fuel pickup, run new fuel hose from that to the Walbro. Re-splice your original fuel line on the frame and pull the fuse for the pump relay. If you do it the way I did, you can have a redundant system. If my Walbro ever fails, I just have to swap a few hose clamps/hoses under the truck and replace the fuse and I'm back on the road in about five minutes on the stock pump. I also carry a spare Walbro with me.
