I'm looking for information on this turbo, but I can't find much. Basically, the only thing I can find is in the upgrade section at htturbo.com (where it mentions a bigger h1e compressor wheel as an upgrade for a h1c). Oh, and some Audi in finland made 411whp at 1.6 bar with one. That's it.

I was hoping that someone could verify the turbine wheel specs for me. Is it the same 70mm (i think thats how big it is) turbine wheel that is on the HX35/H1C, or is it the bigger turbine wheel that is on the HX40/H2E?

I need to know if this H1E turbo will fit into a HX35/H1C turbine housing.

Can anybody reccommend what type/manufacturer of turbo I should buy to replace a HX35. I'm making way to much hp for that little 35 to keep up and its time to replace it.

eh, noboby will probably know what this turbo is anyway. I called about 5 diesel/turbo shops, and all of the holset gurus have no clue about this turbo either.

If I remember right its a lil bigger than a H1C, and is a little bit smaller than a HX40 which came after it.

I don't have a chance to get it anymore, but for the record, I have a 1990 eagle talon 2.0 turbo that I'm upgrading the turbo to a Holset. I've found by reading posts on here that alot of people are knowledgeable about holset turbos, so I was hoping someone could answer my questions. I also have a 1996 ram 1500 5.9 with a few engine mods (capable of low to mid 15 second 1/4 mile times).

There's a new company that has started to manufacture bolt on mitsubishi style turbine housings that are machined to fit a holset hx35/hx40 cartridge. There have been great results with this. The company has a car which put down 549 wheel horsepower with an HX40 (in their turbine housing) at only 20 psi. The power potential from these turbos are insane, and the small size of the turbine housing (i think it's a little over 8cm) help it spool quick. Their test car hit 20 psi at 3800 rpm (remember, we have a 7250 rev limeter). Keep in mind this is on a 2.0 litre engine.

Holset turbos on a DSM is a new frontier that has yet to be conquered. I'm trying to help broaden the horizon by finding alternatives to the HX35/40 that can be used in the special turbine housing. Since the H1C apparently has the same turbine wheel, they will also work in the housing. Holset turbos go for so cheap on ebay, that it would be good to have a list of which turbos share the same center and turbine as the hx35/40/h1c; to be able to use in the special turbine housing. Personally, I don't plan to make as much power as the HX40 is capable of on our motors (my goal is 400 whp). That's why I am searching for a smaller alternative to the hx35. Is there anyway to put a compressor housing with the MWE grooves on an h1c? If i ended up getting the h1c, I'd want the compressor housing to have the MWE grooves to help keep it from surging.


On a side note that I just thought of, what is the performance of the intercoolers found on cummins dodges? I've had my eye on the first generation dodge intercooler because of its smaller size compared to the second generation. Has anyone ever put one on a flowbench and observed flow and pressure drop? It might sound ghetto, but if a cummins dodge intercooler is efficient enough to get me 400 whp on a holset h1c, then I'm almost going to Need to get one.

As long as you don't get the H1C off the non intercooled Dodges the MWE slot can be added. If you look at the intake of the compressor housing and you see the three "struts" going from the inducer to the filter duct flange, the compressor can have an MWE slot cut.

Yes, do you happen to know how good the intercooler really is? Flow numbers? I'd more than likely have to cut it down to fit, but if you knew how horrible the stock dsm sidemount is, you'd understand.

A common "alternative" intercooler in a DSM is an isuzu NPR intercooler. I saw a website where someone with a turbo lebaron put on an intercooler from a first gen, so it sparked my interest. People also take powerstroke intercoolers and cut them down to fit.
