HO vs SO

I read on here before that a Mach 4 Injector was the biggest that an HO pump would support. How much more can a SO pump support before its time to upgrade to one of the better hot rod pumps?

the SO will handle nearly anything you can throw at it(save for shooting for 1K)... common knowledge is that an HRVP will not support anymore than a SO pump on the top end. Where you'll notice the HR is in the bottom end.

The Monster Pump is a different animal though.

Is yours a HO? The five speeds are normally SO.

No, mine is an SO. I was just wanting to how much fuel an SO pump could push. I had heard how much the HO pump would push but not the SO.

Im gonna drive this truck for a lil while and burn WVO in it. But eventually Im gonna sled pull it. I plan on running a pretty big injector in it so I was wondering if a stock SO pump will be able to keep up.

When I got my 07 I kinda got out of the 24 valve loop, but I got this 01 last week so now I have alot to learn to get back in the 24 valve swing.

Define sled pull... and by that I mean, what class are you wanting to pull in, what is your hp goal, what kind of power is your competition making...

If your competition only and have a five speed, I would go the P pump route and get some big injectors and change the pop-off pressure. Standard trucks are easy to convert to a P pump. This way you'll never run out of cc's of fuel. SO pumps run out of fuel only on the biggest injectors and the HRVP will works great but at the extra $$$, go the P pump route. I can tell the difference between the SO and HRVP, its pretty minor but there is a difference. Its time too start enjoying the old new truck.

It seems that a hot rod vp44 can make the same power as a SO vp44, even with smaller injectors. The new hot vp44 is nicknamed the monster VP and one monster equipped truck broke 1000 hp with a big shot of nitrous.

If the monster works out it would make for one fast truck but who would want a 1000rwhp street driver anyways. I would run out of NOS in the first 10km's of the trip.
