HO IN CALIF.

Does anyone know how to get a new out of state dodge HO.Into the state of calif.I have heard that if you are traveling and your truck brakes down and it is not able to be fixed in a short time it is legel to trade and drive it home. Thanks.

This has come up a few times. I believe that the short version of the story is that you have to bring it in as a used vehicle with at least a certain number of miles on it. I think it was 7,500 miles, but not certain. So, you buy it out of state, register it to a relative or friend that is a resident of the state you bought it in, explain to your insurance agent that it is registered wherever but garaged in CA, then when you have sufficient miles, you bring it &quot;into&quot; CA as a used vehicle.<br><br>Not sure how &quot;legal&quot; this approach is, but I believe that this is the loophole people have jumped through to bring in an HO.
