hitting rev limit before shifting? slipping out on downshifts?
My dodge had a tranmission replaced about 25,000 miles ago. It has a B&M shift kit in it, it just got out of warrenty. The other day i opened it up and it did something odd. I was in second gear and I was at about 1800 RPM and I layed into it. It popped out of gear. I let off and it went back in. I put it to the floor because I was curious and it did it again. It only does it around that rpm, any other it sticks in gear just fine. Then i started from a dead stop and it took off like normal but hung around 3000 rpm for a few seconds before it shifted into second and it was real rough. It does that about every other time im to the floor from low gear. I was really curious and worried now so I got ahold of a DRBIII scan tool and I had a P1000 manufacturer specific code, I cant remember the number exactly but it was a goveror pressure voltage high. I have yet to hook a pressure guage to it yet or test the input and output voltage of the governor pressure solenoid. I am stuck any ideas on what it is or what to do next???? by the way its a 47RE in a 97 12 valve

It was built for that cuz I killed it the first time shortly after i turned it up..... it has a tripleloc convertor and all that good stuff and it doesnt slip at all tho, it just hesitates to shift into second gear and pops out of gear. i can stand on the brake and get 35 lbs of boost and no rpm increase. im not slipping at all, could that just be my 2nd band it out of wack???

Did it pop out of gear or did it downshift? If I step on the peddle really hard mine will sometimes downshift and it feels like it is not in gear as the engine just hits the govener and stays there.

if you have the govenor high code then either the line pressure is too high (doubt it with B&M) also B&M doesnt include the govenor signal resistor so they dont increase line pressure much. or the solenoid is bad (very likely) it comes with the overdrive solenoid, about a $100 aftermarket part. replace the solenoid and i bet your troubles will subside for now. P.S. with B&M valvebody kit the trans likely will still fail. transgo increases line pressure and includes govenor signal resistor. PM me if you have any more VB ?'s
