hitch slop
My ball mount doesn't seem to fit in the hitch all that that tight. My ball mount is only two years old. I grease it every use. I am wondering if the new hitch has a larger opening. When I brake or get moving we can hear a large bang. Even with the weigth bars on it still does it.

JT

Re:hitch slop
All of mine do that to some extent but from your post it seems yours is pretty dramatic. Have you checked the locking pin for wear? Every so often, I change mine as it seems to wear at the shear points. Another option is the "cushioned" type hitch. I have not used them, but I have seen them for sale at several different places.
Ed

Re:hitch slop
One of my ball mounts is looser than the others and I get some noise from it; but I don't use a WD set up.
My apologies for asking, but you are using the correct ball mount pin size right? There are two sizes, and if you use the smaller dia pin in the larger hole, that'll contribute to some slop and noise as the ballmount slides back and forth in the receiver.

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
Re:hitch slop
I get a little bit of rattle on mine when I tow...but that's been the case with every receiver style hitch I've ever used. If it fit snug enough to not rattle then you wouldn't be able to slide it in. Might check the pin size though like was mentioned above.

What's the purpose for greasing the reciever (I assume you mean the inside of the 2" receiver)?? I've never done that before.
