High rpm before gears will shift

I have a 2007 Ram 3500 4wd. Just recently it sticks in 2nd gear way too long. Sometimes up to 3400 rpm before it will shift. When it does shift, it doesn't slam into 3rd... its smooth but just, obviously not at the right rpm. The same happens from 4th to 5th. There is no slipping just shifting into those two gears at the wrong times. Anyone have any experience with this? I have 115k miles on it...

Early build date in 06 or late in 07? You need to take your VIN # to the Dealer and get a build sheet so you know what you have. Engine, tranny and gears to name a few.

Thanks.... Late in 07. One of the last three 5.9's in the U.S. available before the 6.7 liter

You don't have a 5th gear.....most likely you are showing the first sighs of needing a gov. pressure solenoid and sensor. Order the upgraded Chevy version online. Easy to replace.....you will need to drop the pan though......so change the fluid and filter while you are at it
