I USED to have an immaculately clean motor. I opened the hood yesterday to find LOTS of ???COOKED snails! I had parked over some bushes and they must have crawled up there. A real dried on mess. Anything that I should be careful of if I take it to one of those car washes and use the sprayer on the motor? Thanks in advance folks.

That is so funny To me, but not to you. Hey, some folks pay really good money for escargot. You got yours for free.<br>Have no idea how to clean the mess but a power wash should make a difference. Just be careful about spraying directly on any electrical connections or other electrical parts. Also of course, don't spray a hot motor. That said, I have sprayed many a hot motor by misting the engine bit by bit until it sort of cools off. So far, never any engine problems, cracked manifolds etc. If you have electrical problems immediately afterwards then spray the suspicious parts with a liberal dose of WD-40.

Yeah, I am sure readers of this might find some entertainment. Some of the darn things look like they exploded (too hot a griddle?) I figure I might as well wait till they are good and crunchy - they may come of easier that way....

I recently had my engine compartment covered in fuel due to a fuel leak. I tried the high pressure hose to blast it off but I can't to get it all off. Especially on the elctreical components below the fuel rail. Anyone have any ideas what I can use to clean up the mess?

Try a high concentration of Simple Green and spray/brush it onto a cold engine. Let it sit for a while and then hose it off. Another one that works quite well is to mix up a strong concentration of good quality dishwashing liquid and do the same thing. For lots of oil it may take more than one application. On the bad spots working it in with a brush helps.

Thanks, I'll try that. I was just using the Simple Green the other day on the boat but I wasn't sure about the wires.
