High performance VP44 worth it?

It was suggested I ask the question over here:
After reading VP44 threads till my eyes are crossed looks like I'll be ordering a new pump. Reading that fuel programmers are hard on pumps makes sense to me. I rarely run the Bully Dog at full setting. The bigger injectors gave a much nicer power. My question is are the high performance pumps worth it? I haven't been able to find any feedback here.
Thanks in advance,

Forget it and save your money for other mods. An SO pump will work just fine.

SO stands for "Standard Output" as opposed to HO which stands for "High Output". The SO pumps are standard on the auto and 5 speed trucks, and the HO was standard on the 6 speed trucks.

Who's II? The prices I was seeing were the same for the stock auto or 5spd and the HO 6spd, around a grand, but they had a hot rod pump for another 5 to 600 bucks. That's what I'm asking about.

Looks like from their web page the high performance pumps are $700 to $1100 more. After much input and speaking with my local pump guy, I'm saying stock.

Yes the HRVP is worth it, less than $100 more than a comparable built stock VP. Where else can you get 1 hp per dollar?
Blue Chip has stock pumps for $1695 and II HRVP is $1750. Most new parts.
The $1000 pumps are basically freshened up with minimal new parts.

He does not give his location, but the HRVP-44 is a smoker in the south. Once OAT gets over 85*, it's hard to control.
Better to use adjustable fueling, IMO.

Sledgeski - If you ever want to play with all the fueling/power you have added, go with the SO pump. Very similar on low end and lets you get above 450 HP on the top end. HO pump will limit max hp due to lower flow rate, no matter what mods you buy.

That's a couple votes for the SO over the HO, huh. I'm in Virginia and the smoker jives with what my local pump shop said. He said another customer of his w/ twin turbos went with a hot rod pump and it was a smoker. What will the supplier say when I try to order a SO with a HO serial number and core. Maybe they won't care. Also, as far as the $1k pumps, I thought to be an official Bosch rebuilder they had to follow Bosch and they were all built to the same spec including a steel sleeve and new computer. Thanks for all the input.

I would buy a $1k reman instead of the $1700 reman from BC. Thats twice the price for no guarantee it will go twice as far. I had an HRVP once, I hated it. Stick to the SO pump. You shouldn't have any issues getting an SO pump instead of an HO pump. Just tell them you have a 5 spd if worse comes to worst.

SO pump is the way to go. The only hot rod pumps worth a **** are $2k+ (Dragon Fire/Monster) and these are for competition.
